Your Greenfields tenancy

Your Tenancy Agreement sets our responsibilities as a landlord and yours as a tenant. Abiding by it will help you to stay safe and secure in your home.

Your tenancy agreement with Greenfields

We offer three different types of Tenancy Agreement:

Starter Tenancy Agreement

This is given to new tenants of Greenfields who have not transferred from another housing association with an Assured Tenancy; for example, if you have been renting in the private sector or this is your first tenancy. This tenancy is for a period of 12 months and you will receive a visit from us at least twice during this time. This is to ensure that you are receiving any support that you might need to maintain your tenancy.

If, at the end of this period, there have been no problems, we will convert the tenancy to an Assured Tenancy. If there have been breaches of the tenancy conditions we may extend a Starter Tenancy for a further six months or consider bringing the tenancy to an end.

Transferring Tenancy Agreement

This is offered to those who previously held a Secure Tenancy with Braintree District Council at the time of transfer. With this agreement, the rights held as council tenants, including the ‘Right To Buy’ option, are preserved. Tenants holding this tenancy who move into another property owned by Greenfields will continue to have a Transferred Assured Tenancy and retain the rights that go with it.

Assured Tenancy Agreement

This is given to new tenants of Greenfields who are transferring from another housing association where they currently hold an Assured Tenancy. This tenancy is also given to Starter Tenants after the 12 month period has elapsed, providing there have been no problems.
