A hat-trick of Greenfields support services and a special volunteer have been shortlisted for awards celebrating outstanding contributions of people, organisations, schools and community groups in mid-Essex which improve health and wellbeing.
The Marvels of Mid Awards are organised by Mid Essex CGG, and we’ve been shortlisted for:
- Stay Well category – Chair-Based Exercise Service
- Stay Well category – Tenancy Sustainment Team
- Age Well category – Support Co-ordinators
- Volunteer of the Year category – Mark Fribbens (Chair-based Exercise leader)
Greenfields runs several chair-based exercise classes across the district, which are open to anyone and aim to reduce mobility issues and long-term health conditions. Volunteer and nominee, Mark Fribbens, leads a class in Braintree, and says: “Teaching the class gets me out the house, and helps me to socialise with other people. We all have a nice chat after the classes. It keeps my lung condition steady and has definitely reduced my own problems.”
Our Tenancy Sustainment Team and Support Co-ordinators are there for residents who require additional support to either manage their home, finances or health, or to remain independent in their homes. One resident who was experiencing physical and mental health problems stemming from a divorce, said of their Support Co-ordinator’s help to get back on track: “It felt good to be listened to, and Dawn was very understanding. You think you’re by yourself, think you’re alone but you’re not.”
The award ceremony is on the evening of Thursday 26 September at the Mid Essex CGG’s Annual General meeting in the Civic Centre in Chelmsford.
