Greenfields Community Housing is delighted to have raised over £5,500 for much-valued local charity, Essex Air Ambulance, during 2016

The life-saving organisation was chosen as Greenfields’ charity of the year by its employees and members. The money was raised in wide variety of ways, ranging from themed events like ‘Race to Rio’ and “bake-offs”, to sports events like golf matches and half marathons.

Essex Air Ambulance provides a free life-saving Helicopter Emergency Medical Service for the critically ill and injured across Essex, Hertfordshire and surrounding areas. Since 1998, the charity has carried out over 14,000 missions – saving countless lives.

Staff from Greenfields visited the organisation’s base in Earls Colne to present them with the money and find out more about it will be used. Clair Mitchell, Fundraising Coordinator at Essex Air Ambulance, is delighted with the donation:

“We feel honoured to have received such wonderful support from Greenfields throughout 2016. We always say that we couldn’t fly without help from local businesses and, in this case, it’s absolutely true! It costs around £500,000 a month to keep our helicopters in the air, so any donation takes us one step closer to saving lives across Essex and Hertfordshire.”

Greenfields is supporting Macmillan Cancer Support in 2017, who improve the lives of people affected by cancer by providing practical, medical, emotional and financial support; and push for better cancer care.
