Work is about to begin to rebuild a community facility on the Templars Estate in Witham, following criminal damage last September.

The Templars Community Office will be rebuilt by Greenfields Community Housing, using around £25,000 of funding from Greenfields; including £5,000 from our Witham Area Forum.

Representatives from the Templars Tenants & Residents Association previously used the office to plan events and meet other residents and Greenfields staff. Chair, Carol Martin, is looking forward to the work being completed:

“It will be great to see the office being used again; both by our association and potentially other groups in the area. We’re particularly looking for volunteers to help us to organise events for the Templars community to enjoy, such as our annual Halloween party.  Please email me at if interested.”

The office will include a meeting room, toilet, kitchen facilities and a private office; as requested by local residents during recent consultation from Greenfields. Katee Bellamy, Greenfields’ Neighbourhood Co-ordinator for the area, feels that the facility will help to bring the community together:

“It’s so useful for residents to have a meeting place to either make important decisions about their community, or just to catch-up and have a chat. We can’t wait to see the finished result.”

If anyone would like to give their ideas on what the office can be used for, they can contact me on or call 01376 535400.

The new office is expected to open in the spring.
