For the past 18 months, our staff and residents have been working with other Community Gateway associations and representatives in the country to help increase the say residents have about their homes and housing services. Jean Sullivan, a Greenfields resident and Vice Chair of our Community Gateway Group, recently visited The Palace of Westminster to continue this great work:
“On Wednesday 29 November I found myself in Westminster Palace with two other Greenfields volunteers, Steve Blows and John Clark, and three staff members: Phil Adams, Sandra Crosby and Arron Samson. I cannot tell you how beautiful it was as we entered St.Stevens Chapel – I was in awe of the statues of past prime ministers. This visit was the climax to 18 months’ work on mutual governance, which helps to increase the say residents from various associations have about their homes and housing service.
The result is that we must continue to ensure that we keep a heavy presence of residents on our committees so we can help shape the future of Greenfields. There were 6 other housing associations involved in this work, and Greenfields was mentioned in the house as being one of the best – with over 90% resident satisfaction! There were also representatives from the House of Commons and the House of Lords. I would not have missed it for the world, and well done to all residents who support Greenfields in whichever way you can.”
