Two brave Greenfields staff members are planning a hair-raising activity to raise money for an Essex-based mental health charity.
On Friday 18 May, Hannah Woods will have her head shaved while colleague, Mitchell Simmons, will have his legs waxed to mark Mental Health Awareness Week (14 – 20 May). The event will raise money for Greenfields’ supported charity for 2018, Mid and North East Essex Mind.
Hannah, a Customer Services Advisor, says: “When I announced that I was considering shaving my head to raise money for Mid and North East Essex Mind, my colleague, Mitch, told me that he would wax his legs if I did. I decided to hold him to that! Myself and others I know have personal experience with dealing with mental health problems, so it’s something I am passionate about supporting and I’m buzzing for my buzz-cut!”
Mitchell, our Shared Ownership Administration Officer, feels that there is no better cause than Mind to support: “Like Hannah, mental health is something that is close to mine and my family member’s hearts, and I’m proud to be doing this alongside my brave colleague! I haven’t previously had anything waxed before, but I will soon find out how high my pain threshold is, and am happy for others to come along to watch and find out at the same time I do! We appreciate any donations, no matter what size.”
The brave pair are aiming to raise £500. Please click on this link to donate: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/ahairyordeal
Greenfields is appealing for any skilled volunteers to do the waxing and/or shaving, so please email amanda.bhavnani@Greenfieldsch.org.uk if you or someone you know would like to help.
