Residents living in around 125 Greenfields homes in Braintree will see their heating bills fall by up to one-third following an insulation re-vamp.
Aran Services has secured energy efficiency funding to install cavity wall insulation project in homes in Peel Crescent, Progress Court, Rifle Hill and Hillside Gardens. The properties were chosen to receive the work first as part of a planned programme, due to the age and type of heating system.
Finn Morris, Contract Manager at Aran Services, said: “For most homes, installing cavity wall insulation saves you £160 a year on your heating bill. We look forward to seeing Greenfields residents enjoying their warmer homes and saving money on their bills.”
A resident from Progress Court, said: “From the minute the insulation works were completed we noticed a difference, particularly in the stairwells outside our door. We have been able to turn our thermostat down from 24 to around 18, which will help reduce our heating bills this winter.”
Greenfields will continue to work with Aran to improve insulation in other homes with similar systems, and will be completing more visits over the rest of the year.
The energy services specialist has replaced various types of insulation in around 650 Greenfields homes in the past four years. As a result of this work, Greenfields were Highly Commended in the Housing Provider of the Year category at the East of England Regional Energy Efficiency Awards 2018.
