We’ve launched a new Tenancy Sustainment Team, whose eight members are helping to improve the lives of our residents in many ways. Here, Jessica Brett, who leads the team, tells us more about their exciting projects and the support they can provide:
“Greenfields as an organisation wants to help our residents to be happy and safe in their homes. Our new Tenancy Sustainment Team can help with that.
The main aim of our team is to improve lives; with the services we offer being anything from form-filling to helping our residents to get back into work.
Here’s a little taster of what you can expect from our new team:
Team- We are striving to be a professional, supporting and friendly team, so although we all have different roles we will work together to ensure our residents and colleagues have the best possible service!
Employment- Emma Faulkner, our Financial Inclusion Co-ordinator, is working hard to put together a job club, supporting our tenants in gaining the skills to get back to work. Find out more by clicking on this link: New club is just the job for finding employment
New tenancies- We’re working with the Housing Options Team and our Neighbourhood Coordinators to ensure any potential issues are dealt with early on. This includes giving advice on budgeting, cooking and cleaning
Advice & assistance- Carlo Sicheri continues to provide Welfare Benefits advice for all Greenfields tenants. Also, the team is available to address concerns about any residents, and will implement support, where appropriate. Find out more by clicking on this link: Benefits advice
No heating – Emma will be working on how to tackle “Fuel Poverty” in our residents. She has already set up a partnership with Braintree District Council for the Essex Energy Switching Scheme, and will look at other ways to assist and help save money. Chair-based exercise. These classes continue and are volunteer-led. We’ve even introduced “Skypercise” which means we can broadcast from one location to another, virtually! Find out more by clicking on this link: Health and wellbeing
Young and old are all welcome to join Val Thompstone, our Digital Inclusion Coordinator and her team of Digi-Pals, to receive basic online skills training; leading to a City & Guilds qualification which can help residents back into work. Find out more by clicking on this link: Get online
Safeguarding training is still being rolled out to Greenfields staff and our external contractors, to ensure that our residents are safe in their homes and communities
Universal Credit- Val is available to help our residents complete their claims online. Find out more by clicking on this link: Universal Credit
Social Isolation- We’re working with Braintree District Council to reduce people feeling isolated and develop projects to combat any issues that may arise
Task and Finish – We’re involved in several Task and Finish groups: to develop and promote our new Hardship Fund, to increase use of our Self Service Portal, and to review our Area Forums
Accounts – Emma will be working with residents and local banks to assist in opening basic bank accounts for those that need them
IT- We’re continuing to run computer clubs, and increase the online skills of our residents
Needs- We’re continuing to work with residents who have complex needs, including mental health conditions
Managing expectations. Our team’s responsibilities are really vast and varied, so occasionally we do have to say ‘no’, but we will always provide reasons as to why and alternative solutions
Exercise & Eatwell – James Taylor, our Health and Wellbeing Co-ordinator, is leading a Fit & Fed project; encouraging families to get active together and offering practical guidance on how to reduce food waste and cook healthily on a budget. He’s also developing our Edible Estates project and working with partners to support residents and local schools to grow their own fruit and vegetables
No barriers- we will work with whoever needs us to help improve their lives in whichever way we can!
Tenancy Sustainment Coordinators, Claire and Carole, are still doing their hard work with some of our most vulnerable tenants, ensuring we support them to stay in their homes and avoid eviction, which is ultimately what the Tenancy Sustainment Team is all about!
