On 15 May, Neighbourhood Co-ordinator, Katee Swallow, held a popular launch event of the rebuilt Templars Community Office in Witham. Here, Katee explains how the launch was simply the start of our plans for the office:
The opening event was very successful and it was lovely to see so many people enjoying the BBQ and inflatable fun! It was also very useful to receive so many questionnaire responses on how you would like to see the office used in the future. There seemed to be a common theme for regular surgeries to be held at the office, which sounds good to me! This is something that I am currently working on and hope to have something in place for August. I will keep you posted.
I am extremely eager for the office to be used for more than just distributing recycling bags, such as providing the community with new skills; and a place to chat and be at the heart of the community. I was also delighted with how many people would like to get involved and help out with the Templars Tenants & Residents Association. I will be individually contacting those who showed an interest. If you didn’t get a chance to provide feedback on the day but would like to get involved, please contact me on Katee.Swallow@GreenfieldsCH.org.uk as I would love to have a chat with you!
A Rubbish Amnesty Day held alongside the launch was also a success, even though there was a lot more rubbish than anticipated, so thank you to Braintree District Council and Partners in Grime for helping to clear it! This should now mean that all your rubbish has been collected free of charge, and we hope that means there should be no more fly tipping.
Please note that all fly tipping on the Templars estate will now be thoroughly investigated. Any evidence will be passed to Braintree District Council, who will serve you with a Community Protection Warning that could lead to a fine. In addition, if you’re a tenant of Greenfields, your tenancy could be affected.
I look forward to seeing you all at the Community Office.
