Residents help our gardening service to flourish!

Our Task and Finish Groups are a new way for our residents to have their say what they want our services to look like, without taking up much of their time. Several services are being reviewed, and we’ve now made some important changes to our Supported Gardening Maintenance Service. This helps residents to maintain their gardens if they’re unable to do it themselves and don’t have anyone to help to do so. The changes include:

  • The service will now run year-round, rather than on a cyclical basis
  • There is no limit on the amount of grass cuts a user can receive, but there must be a minimum of six weeks between visits
  • Anyone wishing to receive the service will be assessed by a member of staff, and be able to provide evidence that they meet the criteria
  • The service will continue to be free-of-charge.

Estate Management Team Leader, Rikki Burt, runs the service and is very pleased about the outcome of the review: “We know that receivers of this service find it so useful, and it’s great that we can continue to help those who need a little help to keep their gardens neat and tidy. Anyone currently receiving the service is being contacted about the changes, and assessed, where required.”

Other Greenfields services being reviewed by Task and Finish Groups include our Self Service Portal – which gives residents the option to book their own repairs, check their rent accounts and more – and our Handyperson Service. Greenfields is one of only four Community Gateway associations in the country; meaning that all our residents have the opportunity to be closely involved in making important decisions about our homes and services. We offer a range of ways to have your say, from being a Virtual Voice, to being on our Board. Find out more about involvement opportunities by clicking on this link: Get involved
