If you’re facing homelessness, need help with benefits or are suffering from mental health issues, Peabody offer a free support service to people living in Essex who are experiencing a range of problems impacting on their health and wellbeing. Greenfields residents can also contact Greenfields’ Tenancy Sustainment Team (see details below) to access our own support service.

Here, Laura Kemsley, a Co-ordinator, explains the impact Peabody is having on those in need:

“We provide a free-of-charge service to help or guide you to help you live independently.  We can assist with things such as:

  • Benefits claims and advice
  • Addressing housing and homelessness issues
  • Signposting for help with drug & alcohol problems or mental health issues
  • Debt management
  • Budgeting advice.

We also have various drop-in sessions that anyone can attend, which are available on request.

My role as a Co-ordinator is to ensure that all referrals are addressed and processed. I look at any issues that other professional may have; as well as making sure that the best advice is given on the outreach phone number and that all our information is kept up-to-date so enquiries can be answered and not passed around the service.

What I like best about my job is making sure that all of our customers know we are here to help them and that they know where they can go for help and assistance.  When I’ve helped someone, I know that their day is going to be much better and, hopefully, there’s a brighter future for them.

The areas we cover are Basildon, Castle Point, Rochford & Rayleigh, Brentwood, Epping, Harlow, Uttlesford, Chelmsford, Colchester, Maldon, Braintree and Tendering, so please get in touch if you could do with some help or advice.”
