We’re delighted to announce that much-loved charity, Essex & Herts Air Ambulance (EHAAT) has been chosen by our staff and volunteers as our Charity of the Year 2020.

More than 130 votes were cast for the charity kept airborne thanks to donations and fundraising activities. We’ll be organising a host of events over the next year to help the service continue to save lives and reduce or prevent disability.

Emma Palmer, Greenfields’ Chief Executive, said: “Several local charities, including a foodbank and those who help people with cancer, were nominated to receive support from our staff and volunteers. They all do wonderful work, but it was Essex & Herts Air Ambulance who flew into first place, and we’re really looking forward to fundraising for them and helping to save lives.”

Jon Rodriguez, Head of Fundraising at EHAAT said: “We’re delighted to have been chosen as Greenfields’ Charity of the Year 2020.

“The service is provided free of charge but, unlike NHS emergency services, the Charity receives no direct funding from the Government or National Lottery. It costs in excess of £750,000 every month to keep the service operational and cover all charitable costs, and this would not be possible without the generosity and goodwill of people and businesses of Essex, Hertfordshire and beyond.

“We are really looking forward to working with everyone at Greenfields over the coming year.”

Last year, we raised £5,325 for Mind to support people living locally who are suffering from mental health problems.

And during 2019, we’re supporting Farleigh Hospice through tuck shop fundraising, collections at events like our New Year pantomimes and the donation of 100 unwanted Christmas presents for raffles.
