Young person’s services

Young people’s services

We have developed positive engagement initiatives across the district to engage with the younger community, giving them opportunities to grow and develop.

Supporting the younger community

We want to support and guide participants to increase their self-confidence, self-esteem and self-worth; helping them to feel a true sense of achievement.

We have developed positive engagement initiatives across the district to challenge and tackle anti-social behaviour (ASB) in young people. Many people have benefited from our programmes; leading to increased skills, confidence, friendships and employment.

Here are some examples of the initiatives we offer:

Think Safe Be Safe

We work with Essex Police to carry out workshops in schools across Essex to teach children about the consequences of crime, and to help them to stay safe on the streets and online. The aim of the campaign is to raise awareness of what crime is, how to respond to it and to encourage them to come forward in confidence and report any issues that they see or are dealing with.

NEET & Tidy

This programme gives the opportunity for those listed as NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training), to help our tenants who may have difficulty keeping their properties at a manageable level by helping with decorating, tidying, cleaning and gardening. The volunteers experience a working environment that provides a sense of achievement, increases motivation and is challenging and rewarding. The programme also benefits our tenants; who may have mental health issues, disabilities or be too frail and elderly to manage their gardens alone.

Diversionary activities

Working alongside many partners across the district, we provide evening activities to steer young people away from nuisance behaviour and to place them in an environment that encourages team-working, interaction and communication skills. These include football, netball, boxing and more.
